These are infrastructure questions.
Infrastructure should remain upgradeable
Self-hosted doesn’t have to mean frozen. A modern self-hosted platform needs mechanisms for package updates, versioning, configuration, deployment, monitoring, migration and rollbacks.
Control shouldn’t come at the cost of evolution. The goal is an environment the institution controls without forcing its engineering team to maintain an entire commerce stack from scratch.
That is the balance infrastructure should provide.
